Islands
Islands
Another beautiful day today! And a perfect day for a boat ride or two. We travelled today to two artisan islands: Murano and Burano. In Murano we learned about glass techniques and watched the making of a chandelier. We also marvelled at the gallery of 25 rooms of different pieces. Amory loved a little glass “fishbowl.” Riley loved jumping around and making me anxious.
On return to Venice, we needed to have one more gelato before we leave in the morning. As our last gelato stop, we tallied the votes and here is the verdict. Best gelato - “Gelato Fantasy” somewhere near the awesome pastry shop somewhere near P. San Marco. Best flavor - Amory: mint chocolate chip, Riley: vanilla with candied fruit, Chris: meringue mousse, MB: cherry.

On the boat to the islands, enjoying the lagoon.
Amory was particularly taken with the lace-making. Here she is at lunch, pretending to sew with a toothpick and her napkin.

All of us in Burano. The girls were thinking that our family color would be fuschia. Chris thought otherwise...
