West End
West End
I managed to keep this a surprise! Amory confided that she can usually tell my secrets by listening closely to what I say to my friends...I will be more aware in the future of little pitchers with big ears! The surprise was only revealed when they saw the Wicked banner on the marquis. They were so excited that the cab driver burst out laughing!
One of the neat things about London theater is that you can take snacks to your seats. So of course we loaded up. It was quite a thrill for me to see the girls watching the show with eyes and mouths wide open...they knew all of the songs, and enjoyed seeing them come to life.
Here are the reviews from our critics:
"It was awesome. I like the scenery also" (Amory)
"Incredibly thought provoking, above and beyond the sheer spectacle. My conceptions of good and evil have been changed forever. The lead women were magical, with this performance of Elphaba topping others I have experienced." (Riley)
They both made it through the play, weren't too scared, and have been performing as Glinda (Amory) Elphaba (Amory) and flying monkeys (Riley) since we got home (see above left).
Post-show show, with flying monkey in background.
Day 12
Wicked
Wednesday, June 22, 2011
The girls on the steps of the Apollo Victoria before the show.
We also went to Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, but it was a bit of a bust- big crowds and hard to see.
