London!
London!
After taking a quick nap, we met our friends the Wesselys for lunch at a fun restaurant called Giraffe. En route, we started to notice some things that are different about London. People speak like Mary Poppins. The cars are on the wrong side of the road. Taxis are black, not yellow, and they have backward as well as forward facing seats (see left for photo of girls in taxi). French fries are called chips, and chips are called crisps. We discovered the last when the girls tried their first British fish and chips for lunch.
After catching up with Olly (a high school classmate of Chris’s), Katie, Poppy and Izzy, we walked through Kensington Gardens to the Princess of Wales Memorial Playground.
This playground is AMAZING. It uses Peter Pan as a loose theme, and as such has a pirate ship, sandy coves with stone alligators (see left for Amory playing in one) as well as favorites like swings and seesaws. After some serious playing, we walked back through Hyde Park. We noticed people playing cricket and rugby in the fields- another difference from home! We grocery shopped and made dinner in our mini-kitchen before nodding off to sleep...
